Many thanks to all of you who delivered leaflets, knocked on doors, and helped spread the socialist message of hope. For those of you who are horrified by the General Election result but were not active during the campaign please join Labour now and get involved. We have a lot of work to do!

CLP Nomination meeting for Leader and Deputy Leader

Many thanks to the more than 60 members who came out on a wet Monday evening(27/01/2020) for our Labour party leader and deputy leader nomination meeting. We had a good discussion with many points raised. Most people were impressed with all candidates and hope that whoever wins the contest will reach out to others for their front bench. Voting was by single transferable vote, and 50% was the pass number. Keir Starmer reached the benchmark for leader nomination on the first round and Angela Rayner was nominated for deputy after second and third choices were taken into account.

Anyone who has joined the party before Monday 20 January (5pm) will be able to vote in the Leadership and Deputy Leadership elections. Any members who are currently in arrears will need to be fully paid up by Friday 14 February.

The contender’s statements can be read here.
